About Cirencester Counselling
Cirencester Counselling is situated in the heart of this Cotswold market town at 53 Thomas Street, GL7 2BA on Monday to Wednesday, and at 84 Dyer Street, GL7 2PF on Thursday afternoon. Counselling takes place in comfortable and anonymous private rooms. It is a short drive from the towns of Cricklade, Fairford and Tetbury, and only twenty-five minutes from Swindon and Cheltenham.
Christine Allan (BA Hons) is the face behind Cirencester Counselling. She has been a qualified psychodynamic counsellor since 2000. Christine is registered and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and is accredited with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). Christine is also trained in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT); both IAPT approved methods.
Christine holds a postgraduate diploma in Consultative Clinical Supervision – both group and individual supervision can be provided.
Alongside this busy private practice, Christine has experience of working in a GP surgery and for an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and is a registered practitioner with Aviva. Christine is a member of the training team for a leading counselling agency based in Stroud, where she is also a tutor and supervisor.
Before any counselling is undertaken, a free-of-charge 15 minute telephone assessment is provided. This helps clarify whether the way Christine works is appropriate for the individual, or whether another form of intervention might be more suitable. Following this assessment, a full face-to-face consulation is carried out prior to commencing weekly counselling sessions.
Christine works in a variety of ways with her clients, depending on what the individual needs. Some people require only five or six sessions to focus on a particular problem. Others prefer to work on a longer term basis to help with issues which have been a difficulty for some time.
